As previously announced, the show will play Connecticut’s Hartford Stage, with performances running from October 22 through November 15. Opening night is scheduled for October 30.The play is based on the Cornell Woolrich short story, which also inspired the famous 1954 Hitchcock film of the same name. A Gentleman’s Guide to Love & Murder Tony winner Darko Tresnjak will direct the show, which is adapted for the stage by Keith Reddin.Bacon’s numerous film credits include A Few Good Men, Apollo 13, Footloose, X-Men: the First Class and The River Wild. He is also the star of the Fox series The Following. Bacon has appeared on Broadway in Slab Boys and An Almost Holy Picture.Rear Window follows L.B. “Jeff” Jefferies (Bacon), a wheelchair-bound photographer who believes he witnessed a murder while spying on a neighboring apartment. He enlists the help of his girlfriend Lisa and nurse Stella to investigate, putting one of them much closer to the scene of the alleged crime than intended. No word yet if the production is slated for the Great White Way following the Hartford bow, though a different production of the thriller, directed by Terry Kinney was previously reported to by eyeing Broadway in 2013. If this high profile casting is any indication, however, we suspect the show’s gaze to extend over to New York.
