The entry is made at the point where the two volumes converge; a low-ceiling guides the look to the external landscape. On one side the stone floor of the dining room goes towards the terrace, gradually merging into the garden. The living room is at a slightly lower level and has a higher ceiling. A tree trunk dominates this space, covering the single column present in the room. Certain recent court rulings have badly hurt leading Moroccan media and could lead to their disappearance. Judges should impose sentences that are proportionate to the damage caused and should ensure that press freedom is not endangered.”Four deputy prosecutors filed separate lawsuits against Nini in early February claiming they had been defamed by a report published on 18 November in his newspaper. The State of Housing Finance

After several years of low-tier house prices growing at a larger rate than their high-tier counterparts, the two are once again near matching. This is mainly due to a slowdown in the price appreciation among lower-tier homes, a very good thing for first-time homebuyers.Rent is where things get interesting, however. According to Consumer Price Index data, rental growth fell from 3.8% in January 2020 to 2.4% in November of the same year—this is for primary residences only. Coupled with historically low mortgage rates, which are around 2.7% at the time of this writing, the debate between renting or buying is getting heated. When looking at the average price of purchasing lower-tier homes versus renting, the end of 2020 saw a small financial benefit to renting. A $210,000 home purchased with a Federal Housing Administration (FHA) loan, for example, with a 3.5% down payment would cost around $1,765 a month—$10 less than renting. But at the beginning of the year, renting would theoretically be $74 less per month. The low mortgage rates, even compared to lower rents, were more beneficial. But will that continue to be the case?According to housing analysts, mortgage rates will increase in 2021, but home price growth should slow down. The entire report, available at urban.org, “Housing Finance at a Glance, a Monthly Chartbook,” breaks down housing finance trends in areas including:Mortgage Origination Projections & Originator Profitability Total Originations and Refinance Shares Housing Supply Housing Starts and Home Sales Housing Affordability  National Housing Affordability Over Time Affordability Adjusted for MSA Home Price Indices National Year Over Year HPI Growth First-Time Homebuyer Share Comparison of First time and Repeat Homebuyers, GSE and FHA Originations Delinquencies and Loss Mitigation Activity  Negative Equity Share Loans in Serious Delinquency/Foreclosure Forbearance Rates by Channel   The State of Housing Finance Veronica Bradley has covered the consumer packaged goods industry, the tech industry, the healthcare industry, and a few other industries that impact people’s daily lives. Not testing alone. Not contact tracing alone. Not quarantine alone. Not social distancing alone. It’s unpredictable, but if you look at historically how these things work, it will likely be anywhere from a few weeks to up to eight weeks,” Fauci said. “I hope it’s going to be in the earlier part, two, three, four weeks, but it’s impossible to make an accurate prediction.”Fauci urged Americans to adapt to physically separating, calling it “one of the very effective ways you can really mitigate the spread.”As many Americans say they’re not getting access to COVID-19 tests, Fauci told GMA, “I think in the next week or so you’re gonna see an acceleration in the availability of tests.”As for when people should request testing, Fauci recommended that the public follow the guidelines of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).5:42 a.m. Charles Barkley in self-quarantine, awaiting COVID-19 test resultsNBA Hall of Famer and TNT broadcaster Charles Barkley announced Thursday night that he is self-quarantining and is awaiting results from a coronavirus test.Barkley, in a phone interview with his co-hosts of NBA on TNT, said he felt sick after returning to Atlanta from a trip in New York City.“I talked to a couple people at Turner and a couple doctors and they told me to self-quarantine for the next 48 hours. Career coach: Selling yourself as a brand

By

first_imgCareer coach: Selling yourself as a brandOn 16 Mar 2004 in Personnel Today Previous Article Next Article Comments are closed. Related posts:No related photos. John Simmons is director of training and development at thewriter.co.uk, andauthor of The Invisible Grail: In search of the true language of brands The only surprise was who said it. It was Hans Blix, the UN weaponsinspector who compared US President George Bush and Prime Minister Tony Blairto “vendors of merchandise trying to exaggerate the importance of whatthey have”. The truth is, we all need to persuade others of the importance of what wehave if we are going to get on in life. We all have to sell ourselves tofurther our careers. But, and it is a big but, there are different ways of selling. The hardsell, involving exaggeration almost to the point of mendacity, is not the wayto go. Perhaps the president and the prime minister might regret it in time –if voters start to believe they have been sold snake oil rather than the pureessence of truth. Bear this in mind when you have to sell yourself. I am not going to withdrawthe phrase because I do believe that, like any retailer, we need to present anoffer in the best possible light. But there should be an honest approach to theprocess. Your words matter. After all, words send signals about who you are and whatyou’re like. Take a look at your CV: what does it say about you? Do the wordsexcite, do they distinguish you as a personality, do they make you sound like aperson it would be good to meet? What happens if, for example, we simply remove(and then replace) the words and phrases that project a personality that isreally not you? We are all having to think of ourselves as brands these days. How would youdefine your personality? What are your values? What is it that you really wantto achieve with your life? If you can, first be clear with yourself about theanswers to those questions, then consider if the words you use – your tone ofvoice – represent your personality. To continue the analogy, let’s take a brand like hand-made cosmeticsmaufacturer, Lush. Lush takes great pleasure in using words to sell soap, shampoo, and skincare products. The words are often funny and always engagingin their determina-tion to sell products without dishonest hype. The words on a Lush carrier bag describe the way Lush sees itself and itsbeliefs. “We believe in long candlelit bathsÉin the right to make mistakes, lose everything and start again.” Is that dangerously honest? “Wealso believe words like ‘fresh’ and ‘organic’ have honest meaning beyondmarketing.” There’s a refreshing willingness to risk your disapproval, aslong as you credit that they mean what they say. We live in an age where we all understand marketing. We have come beyond thepoint where we believe marketing is inherently dishonest. But we know the gameand we know we have to play it. My advice is to take the Lush approach to selling yourself. Be engaging, bring out your own personality and be as honest as you can. I can’t guaranteethat this will get you every job you go for, but I believe it works in the longrun. At the very least, it stops you pursuing a job in which you have nointerest. last_img read more

Fire scare at Catz staircase

By

first_imgA fire incident broke out in a kitchen of Staircase 20 at St Catherine’s College at around 19:45 this evening.Thick smoke was coming from the top floor of the staircase, with the situation having been subdued within five minutes of the fire service’s arrival at the scene. Three staircases have been fully evacuated and no one is believed to have been injured. JCR President Sarah White posted on the JCR’s Facebook page to explain the arrival of the three fire engines, stating that three “is a standard number to send when there are so many people living in such a small area”.It is hoped that the residents of the staircase directly concerned will be allowed to re-enter their rooms later this evening following further ventilation of the staircase, while those in the neighbouring two were allowed back to their rooms once the fire had been extinguished. 20 undergraduates live in the staircase directly affected, while 60 live in the building as a whole. It is thought that a broken toaster was the cause of the fire.A second-year resident of Staircase 20 gave Cherwell the following statement: “I was in my room with some friends and we heard the fire bell go off. We took several minutes finishing our conversation as we assumed it would stop pretty soon- it usually does. Then one of my friends left the room to check the kitchen and came running back in and said ‘guys there’s literally smoke everywhere’.“We ran into the corridor and the kitchen was full of thick smoke- you couldn’t see through it, and despite being on the other side of a glass door, smoke was already getting into the corridor. There was a very strong smell of burning. We ran outside where everyone was gathered in the car park. I ran to the Porter’s who immediately rang the fire brigade. A few minutes later they arrived and entered the building, very quickly putting out the smoke.“I was pretty shaken as I realised that everything of value that I owned was in the room on the other side of the kitchen and that could well have set me pretty far back in my degree had the fire brigade arrived too late.”The students affected continue to wait in the College’s JCR bar area for further instruction.last_img read more
